The holy river Ganga has utmost importance among all the rivers in India.

The Ganga is the most sacred river to Hindus. Since the early dawn of Indian culture. We’ve known that Ganga’s water is pure literally and figuratively.

But what is the science behind Ganga holy water? Is Ganga special or, is it just a myth? And is Ganga Dying?

The Holy river Ganga

Ganga is the holiest and most sacred among all the rivers of the world. It has a special place in the Hindu religion.

It is a lifeline to millions of Indians who live along its course and depend on it for their daily needs. Ganga is 2,525 kilometres long, making it the longest river in India.

It believed that Ganga water has a healing power that removes skin diseases and elongates life. Ganga is considered a “Brahm Dravya” or divine elixir.

Hindus consider the waters of the Ganges to be both pure and purifying. Regardless of all scientific understanding of its waters, the Ganges is always ritually and symbolically pure in Hindu culture.

Ganga water is considered pure in Hindu culture because it thought to absorb impurities and carry them away.

The Ganges does not just remove physical filth; It also removes symbolic dirt; It eradicates the sins of a lifetime, not just the present.

What is the science behind the purity of Ganga water?

The water has viruses that attack disease-causing bacteria. The water contains Bacteriophages that kill cholera bacteria but don’t affect humans.

These natural phenomena made this water the purest to drink that too such an extent that if you take this Ganga water and mix it with the water, it will purify it.

Ganga decomposes organic waste 15 times faster than any other river in the world. Ganga has 25 times more oxygen.

The water goes through a natural process of purifying itself.

Our ancestors knew about the good viruses centuries before the discovery of microorganisms by science.

Ganga is DYING

India’s river of faith, devotion, and worship, a source of life for million people — River Ganga is dying with each passing day.

The Ganga threatened by severe pollution. The primary causes of water pollution in the Ganges river are the disposal of human sewage and animal waste, increase in population density and industrial waste in the river.

In less than 30 years, Ganga’s flow will be half of what it is today. We are killing the river faster than it can save itself.

Ganga is the goddess of purification and forgiveness, but how long will we test her patience? When are we going to do our bit to save the one who protects us all? This time we ask ourselves these questions. And save Ganga to save India.
